The opportunity
Why Turkey
Turkey grants citizenship for a qualifying investment: USD 400,000 in real estate; USD 500,000 in a bank deposit, government bonds, investment fund units, the private pension system or fixed capital; or creating jobs for at least 50 people, for which the regulation sets no investment amount. The real estate, deposit, bond, fund and pension routes require the investment to be held for three years. Wealthy Expat estimates 3 to 5 months; no official processing time is published. There is no requirement to live in Turkey, and no need to give up your current nationality.

Who it suits
May fit. May not.
Turkey suits investors who want a second citizenship without relocating and can keep capital invested for three years. The two lists show where it fits and where another program serves better.
May fit if you want
- A second citizenship without moving to Turkey: no residence period applies, though the residence permit application needs a visit for fingerprints.
- One application covering you, your spouse and children under 18.
- Holding a property, deposit, bond or fund position for three years.
May not fit if you need
- Visa-free Schengen or US travel on this passport — both still require a visa.
- Including parents or grandparents, or adult children who are not dependent on you.
- Selling the qualifying investment before the three-year hold ends.

A licensed valuation firm confirms the value.

Questions
Program FAQ
Short answers on residence, resale, the minimum investment, dual citizenship and visa-free travel.
No. There is no residency requirement to obtain or maintain Turkish citizenship, before or after the grant. The investment route does require a residence permit, and fingerprints are taken in person at the first application.
You must keep the property for at least three years under the title-deed annotation; the deposit, bond, fund and pension routes carry the same three-year hold. After that you may sell, but a transfer back to the previous owner or that owner's first-degree relatives cancels the Land Registry's property investment certificate (Land Registry guide for citizenship).
On the real estate route, USD 400,000, held for at least three years under a title-deed restriction preventing resale; it was raised from USD 250,000 by the 13 May 2022 Official Gazette amendment. A bank deposit, government bonds, investment fund units, the private pension system or fixed capital each require USD 500,000, and the regulation sets no investment amount for the route of creating jobs for at least 50 people.
Yes. Turkey allows dual citizenship, so you are not required to renounce your current nationality, subject to your home country's own rules.
No. Turkish nationals remain listed as visa-required for Schengen short stays and are outside the US Visa Waiver Program; according to the Henley Passport Index, the passport gives visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 112 destinations.
